Avant Garde Art Extravaganza, a feast for the eyes

As Pablo Picasso once said, “Colours, like features, follow the changes of the emotions”, holds true for what Pune witnessed last weekend, a rare phenomenon. The FAD Graduate Showcase- a unique art and photography exhibit by young, vibrant, raw artists; students of FAD International showcased quirky and funky pieces of their talent for the viewing of a selected privileged elite at The Westin.

Blue Billion Group and FAD International; the names behind bringing this spectacular work to the city received much accolades for this larger than life concept. Kishore Navandar (Chairman and MD, BBG) and Shivang Dhruva (Founder, FAD) talk in unison, “Pune is a melting pot of arts of every single kind but most of these artists rarely get a platform to showcase their incredible talents and visions. We wanted to create such an avenue for burgeoning artists to let their creativity flow freely.”

The eye-catching, contemporary works of art that were spread over 80,000 square feet involuntarily drew some of the city’s biggest names in throngs. Seen mesmerised around the exhibits were Gautam Pashankar, Shola Carletti, Jayesh Sachdev, Rajesh Kasat, Hitesh Bhat, models Sampada Vaze and Amrita Thappar and Westin GM, Anuraag Bhatnagar, amongst others.

The young artists and photographers were seen in deep conversations with the attendees with witty repartees being exchanged about everybody’s personal take on their frames of fine art and mixed media photography. Sahil Shete, a young photographer, captured a plethora of expressions from the streets, of men, women and children. “There is so much than what the naked eyes sees and most of us are busy with our lives and we fail to see the liveliness of the streets, so I took a liking to capturing the raw elements of streets through my pieces,” says the talented artist, who has been in this line for nearly four years now.

Renowned Bollywood lyricist and Filmfare award winner, Sameerji, was awestruck at the talent showcased. “I’m impressed at the talent of such young minds. This is a unique one-of-a-kind art event, and the pieces show how creative and advanced the generations are getting. I’m sure this creativity will inspire to create lovely pieces of music as well.” said Sameerji. Other celebrities who added the glam quotient to the event were Randhir Kapoor, Marathi superstar Amruta Khanvilkar and reality TV fame Pooja Mishra.
